The Renaissance Festival: this is the highlight of the city's cultural activities. Established ten years ago,the festival hosts a variety of theater, music and dance performances as well as architectural multi-media shows.

The Cretan Wine Festival: having a long tradition of almost forty years, this celebration, in the public park of Rethymnon, is organized every July and offers free wine to thousands of visitors.

The Rethymnon Carnival: the local carnival is considered the best in Crete and the special events organized comprise also dances, masked balls and a marvellous treasure hunt.

The Feast of Klidonas: every summer, on the 21st of June, "To Lykio ton Ellinidon" revives the traditional feast of the beginning of summer.
