Apodoulou consists of three building complexes of the Old Palace period (1950-1700 B.C.). Tholos tombs of the Postpalatial period (1380-1200 B.C.) have also been located in the adjacent area. Read more. |

| The ancient city of Lappa is in the same location as the village of Argyroupolis. This village has beatiful scenery and natural springs. Much of the artifacts excavated from this area are housed in the Archaeological Museum of Rethymnon. Read more. | |
| E. Ideon Cave | |

This cave has been subjected to human influence for thousands of years. This is the legendary place where baby Zeus was hidden from Saturn who was trying to slay him. Cult artifacts have been found here, including statues and bronze shields and other finds now on display in the Heraklion Archaeological Museum. |
