Cretan Food: Produce
Fresh produce is a plentiful commodity in Crete; vegetables, fruits and herbs can be bought at street markets almost every day of the week. Some markets ( like the large market in Chania ) house produce venders and you are certain to find fresh fruits and vegetables. Other venders bring their produce from the mountains and farms daily and sell them on street corners or at large open-air markets. Citrus fruits are a major form of produce grown on Crete and can be bought quite cheaply compared to other parts of the world.
