Crete Post: Mail and Postal Services
Cretan towns and cities generally have a centralized post office that accomodates all postal needs from post office boxes to mail and delivery. Mailing letters and postcards internationally or locally is no problem at all; however, when mailing a package or important document, be sure to use postal insurance. Postage charges are cheap enough if the object to be mailed can fit into an envelope (small packages can be mailed in envelopes to cut down on shipping charges), but large packages may be expensive to post. Post office boxes can be purchased for approximately 50 euros per year, but boxes are scarce, so expect a few weeks before you can have a PO box assigned to you.
