| Beaches are a popular destination for tourists. Whether you are looking for picturesque rocky coves or sandy stretches of coast, you can find the beach of your dreams in Crete. | ||||
| A. Sisi | |
The beaches at Sissi (Sisi) include Limani, Mpoufos, and Avlaki beach. Limani Beach is inside the town of Sissi and Mpoufos is a small sandy beach that frequently has large waves. Avlaki beach has large pebbles and is adjacent to a sandy beach near the Kalimera Kriti hotel. |

| B. Milatos | |
Milatos beach is a small sandy beach within the fishing port of Milatos. To the west, is a nice, sandy beach that belongs to the Minos Imperial Hotel. |

| C. Plaka | |
This area has two beaches. The northern beach is a pebbly beach with tamarisk trees. This is renowned as the best beach in Plaka village and has great views of Spinalonga. The southern beach is pebbly and has very few visitors. |

| D. Driros | |
| Located betwen Plaka and Elounda is this beach with sand and flat rocks. There are many tamarisk trees that grow near the beach. Driros is considered one of the best beaches in Elounda bay. | |
| E. Elounda | |
In the Elounda area, there si a beach to the north of the port with nice sand. To the south of the port is also a sandy beach that is smaller compared with the Northern one. |

| F. Agios Nikolaos | |
There are many beaches near Agios Nikolaos including Chavania beach, a nice sandy beach that is somewhat sheltered from the wind. Ammoudi beach is sandy but can be touristy and crowded. Kitroplateia beach is a sandy beach located very close to the center of Agios Nikolaos. Ammos beach is also near to the tourist center of Agios Nikolaos and is a sandy beach. The Municipal Beach has many facilities such as minature golf, a grassy park area, trees, swimming pool and bar. Almyros beach is a long sandy beach in a protected bay with very shallow water. |

| G. Ammoudara | |
| This is an excellent sandy beach very close to Agios Nikolaos. Very accessable from Agios Nikoloas and Ierapetra. This beach may be crowded. | |
| H. Istron | |
| At Istron is a golden sand beach located in a bay with turquoise water. This veach is popular and often packed with sunbeds. There may be some garbage in the water that is brought by currents from Agios Nikolaos bay. | |
| I. Pahia Ammos | |
| This is a sandy beach that is protected from the wind by a dock from the smal fishing port. | |
| J. Kavousi | |
| This is a pebbly beach with tamarisk trees and it is exposed to the wind. The left side of it is sandy and more protected. There are a couple of taverns here but you will have to look in Kavousi village (3 km) for accommodation. | |
| K. Sitia | |
| At Sitia is Mohlos, a shingle beach west of Mochlos village. A long sandy beach also extends from Sitia to Vai. | |
| L. Vai | |
| An area of exceptional beauty because of the existing Palm-tree forest. The beach of Vai is a sandy beach with watersports available. It is a crowded but beautiful beach and less exposed to North winds than the Palaikastro beaches. | |
| M. Paleokastro | |
The area around Paleokastro has several beaches. Maridati beach is a small bay with a sandy beach, 4km north-east of Paleokastro. Kouremenos beach is a long, sandy beach, 2km north-east of Paleokastro. Hiona beach is a good sandy beach with fish taverns nearby. The beach is located 2 km east of the town. It has a long beach. |

| N. Xerokampos | |
| This beach consists of various sandy coves and turqoise water. Xerokampos is a magnificent place when there is no wind. It is a sleepy resort far away from everything. | |
| O. Myrtos | |
| A beach with sand and pebbles but few facilities. | |
| P. Ierapetra | |
| There is a sandy beach within the town limits of Ierapetra. | |
| Q. Chryssi Island | |
Also known as Gaidouronissi, this island lies 15km south of Ierapetra. Located in the Libyan sea, the island's nature is pure and mysterious. Bays, and hiden coves, pure beaches, crystal-blue water, rare cedar forests, fragile ecosystems, species of plants and animals have existed undisturbed on the island for hundreds of thousand of years. Ruins of buildings from the pre-historical and historical time demonstrate the length of human presence on the island. There are daily boat excursions to the island and its sandy white beaches. Boats departure from Ierapetra at 10:30 am and 12:30 pm. They return at 17:00 and 18:00. The duration of the voyage is one hour. |

| R. Koutsounari | |
| At Koutsounari is a long sandy beach aptly named Long Beach. It starts from the Koutsounari Camping and stretches for several km towards the east. It is very wide and there are parts of it with no facilities. | |
| S. Agia Fotia/ Ahia | |
| At Agia Fotia is a lovely sandy beach in a picturesque valley. Ahia beach is an uncrowded snady beach. | |
| T. Koufonissi Island | |
| This small uninhabited island has excavations revealed a city of the roman period, a theater with seats for 1000 persons, an aqueduct and a port. Boats leave for Koufonisi from Makrygialos every morning. The beaches are excellent with golden sand and turqoise water. No facilities and no shade on the island. | |
